Sims 3 generations isn't working on my computer??!! Help?

So I installed generations on my 4yr old PC, and I go to press play on the sims3 launcher screen and it freezes up and won't play...... Could anybody plz help???? Generations automatically updated my game when I installed it, and I'm not connected to the Internet so I don't have any custom content
