Sims 3 Game Launcher stopped responding after I installed the Generations EP?

I've seen questions like this, but none are a result of installing an EP. Yesterday, I installed the Generations expansion pack and played it with no problem. Today, I open the Game Launcher and when I press the ► button to play, it 'stops responding.' I have restarted my computer and tried again, but it still isn't working. When I open the Sims 3 folder and try to play from there, it tries to uninstall Generations. Do I need to do this to get the Launcher working properly again?
