Question about Traveling with 2 cats?

I will be moving this summer and the trip is 8 hours (Ohio to North Carolina). I have two cats, both 3 and am wondering the very best and safest way possible for them to make the long car ride. One of my cats is very high strung and nearly went in to cardiac arrest when he was at the vet for a 2 hour procedure so I worry about his ability to make the trip safely. My other cat hasn't been on a long car ride for a long time. What is the best way I can transport both of my cats safely to ensure their comfort and well being during the trip? Thanks so much!
