What type of doctor could i be?

I wouldn't worry too much right now about the type of doctor you want to be. That will probably change throughout your college career and especially, if you get into med school, as you do your rotations. Right now, just focus on getting better grades, so you can get into college. There, you are going to want to be a bio major with a concentration in pre-med (if it is offered at the college that you attend). College is where you are going to need really good grades. Med school is competitive, so you are going to need about a 3.8 average. Also, please don't take this the wrong way, but you may want to also get some help in writing. Doctors are expected to be able to communicate effectively and also write papers and journals throughout their career. Also, your mom is right, nursing is a great career that also makes great money (I am in nursing school right now). If you do it, though, definitely go with a four year degree (BSN). After practicing as a nurse for a while, you can go back to school and get your masters so you could be a nurse anesthetist or a nurse practitioner. The benefits of nursing over medicine is that you get more patient interactions. Patients tend to remember nurses more than their doctors after a stay in the hospital, because nurses are there 24/7, whereas a doctor is only in there for a little bit. That said, being a doctor is definitely a great, rewarding career. It just depends on what you want out of your career.
